The Storyteller

The Storyteller

For several years after leaving teaching I worked part-time as a professional storyteller, mostly but not entirely with children and young adults. During this time I developed a repertoire of stories, typically designed to fit into a one-hour storytelling session.

All of my stories are unique to me and are mostly built around a folk song or ballad, so music is an important feature of all of my sessions.

I am going to run an experimental online storytelling session at 8.00pm on Thursday 29th October using Zoom.

If you think you might like to listen in, please send me an email now to dragonfolk@btinternet.com with your name and the email address to which you would like me to send the invitation. I will then send you some more information about the session (which will last approximately 1 hour) about a week before the event, and the invitation to join the session will come at about 7.50pm on the night.

If you tell me now that you might be interested but then find closer to the time that you’re not able to attend that won’t be a problem at all. Equally, I don’t mind you telling anyone else who you think might be interested about this, but they must then send me an email in order to be invited on the day.

The stories I will be telling are suitable for adults and older children. There is nothing ‘inappropriate’ for younger children, but they might find it hard to follow the tales and to stay engaged.

I don’t want any payment for these sessions, but if, after you’ve attended a session, you feel you enjoyed it and would like to do so, then you could make a small donation to a wonderful organisation called ATE Superweeks. Your donation would go to their ‘Adventure Appeal’, all of which is used to pay for children from disadvantaged backgrounds in the UK to go on a holiday of a lifetime. You can find out more at www.superweeks.co.uk/adventure-appeal. There are going to be a lot of children in real need of a holiday when this current pandemic is under control, so your donation would be money very well spent.

I hope you’ll want to join me on the 29th, if you think you might, please do reply to this email straight away so I can add your name to the list.
